Add course specific text to notification emails

Intended Audience: Admins, Managers  

Course specific text is information you provide to learners, about a specific course. There are 4 types of course specific text which can be set in Notifications:

  • Enrollments
  • Reminders
  • Course completions
  • General


The CK Editor provides rich-text formatting for course specific text, to include brand images and style. The character limit is set to accommodate additional HTML formatting.


You write this text in your course Notifications page, and you can include the text using variables in your custom email templates. You must enable email templates to use the course specific text.

Tip: In order to use this feature, you must enable the correct custom email template under Application Settings > Custom Email Templates. Additionally, you must also ensure that you have set Messages are received to Internal & External under Application Settings > Email / General Settings.



Add text for enrollment emails

  1. From the primary navigation menu, select Courses > your course name.
  2.  Notifications.
  3. Go to Custom course specific text for your email templates and enter the text into Enrollment emails.
  4. Select Save to finish.



Note: The application sends automatic enrollment emails for all courses by default. You disable enrollment emails via Settings > Email / General Settings and enabling Disable enrollment emails. This setting disables enrollment emails for the entire portal.


Add text for reminder emails

To use this option for a course, you must enable Send/Enable enrollment reminders? under Enrollment Notifications and set enrollment reminders for the course.



  1. From the primary navigation menu, select Courses > your course name.
  2. Notifications.
  3. Go to Custom course specific text for your email templates and enter the text into Reminder emails. Click Save.


Add text for completion emails

To use this option for a course, you must enable completion notifications for the course. To read more about setting course notifications, see this article on Course notifications: set automated messages for course events.



  1. From the primary navigation menu, select Courses > Notifications.
  2. Go to Custom course specific text for your email templates and enter the text into Completion emails. Click Save.



Add text to include in any email template

Enter text you want to include in any custom email template you send for a course.


To add general course specific text for any email template:

  1. From the primary navigation menu, select Courses > your course name.
  2. From your course's Info page, select Notifications.
  3. Go to Additional course specific text and enter the text into the field.
  4. Select Save to finish.
